In Slumber - Scars Incomplete
In Slumber is a band from Austria, which really surprised me, because the sound doesn’t resemble anything that I ever heard from that country. Their new album is called Scars Incomplete.
When I heard the first song of this album, I was a little bit sceptic about it, because it did not really appeal to me. The style was a little bit like that cheesy Children of Bodom shit, which I really have heard enough of. It was actually the third song that made me switch completely, because the music is transformed into ‘up your ass’ death metal with growling and bashing vocals. It was then obvious to me, that this band possessed a great deal of technical guitar playing with interesting chords and riffs. The drums and vocals are really strong in the mix, which I also can be pleased about. It sounds kind of strange, but this band actually managed to create an original mix between the popular Gothenburg style of Thrash/Death metal and the old school machinery death metal from the North.
My conclusion about this album is therefore very concrete: Listen to this! I think this can please many people, because it is something new in the big ocean that we call heavy metal.
